Maintenance of Agricultural Machinery in Dalian: Key Inspection Points During Off‑Season
The autumn‑winter off‑season in Dalian is the ideal time for inspecting and maintaining agricultural machinery. Featuring high coastal humidity and low winter temperatures in southern Liaoning, machinery left outdoors directly is prone to component rust, pipeline cracking by frost and aging rubber parts. Proper off‑season maintenance helps cut down failures, extend equipment service life and prevent delays for spring farming operations.
Start with overall machine cleaning. Thoroughly wash off soil, straw residues and weeds from equipment, and clear debris trapped in radiators and filter screens. Check for cracks, oil leakage and water leakage during cleaning. Salt residue from coastal conditions tends to stick to machine surfaces. After washing and drying, apply anti‑rust grease to metal working parts such as blades and ploughs to mitigate rust risks.

Focus on inspecting the engine and fuel system. Replace engine oil, oil filters and diesel filters following maintenance schedules. Check antifreeze to adapt to Dalian’s cold winters and ensure its freezing point matches local minimum temperatures. For models without antifreeze, drain all water from water tanks and pipelines to avoid frost‑cracked cylinder blocks. Fill fuel tanks to capacity to reduce condensed water buildup inside. Inspect pipelines for aging and leakage.
Examine transmission, travelling and electrical systems. Apply grease to chains, bearings, universal joints and other transmission components. Loose the tension of belts and chains to avoid permanent deformation from long‑term tight stress. Remove storage batteries and store them indoors in dry conditions with regular charging. Elevate tyres off the ground to prevent flat spots and slow rubber aging. Clean corroded wiring connectors and reinforce insulation protection.
Pay attention to storage conditions. Store machinery indoors in well‑ventilated and dry warehouses whenever possible. For outdoor storage, cover the whole unit properly. Replace worn or damaged spare parts during off‑season inspection. Careful off‑season maintenance guarantees stable performance for spring ploughing and orchard harvesting next year and lowers repair costs.
